L’incubo delle anatre inizia dai primissimi giorni di vita, gli operatori selezionano solo i cuccioli di sesso maschile: questo perché il fegato delle anatre femmine è meno desiderabile per la produzione di foie gras, di conseguenza i produttori allevano solo i maschi.

A questo punto inizia la vita in allevamento e il peggio deve ancora venire: nelle ultime due settimane di vita le anatre subiscono infatti la terribile pratica dell’alimentazione forzata.

Un lungo tubo di metallo viene infilato nelle loro gole e gli vengono fatte ingerire grandi quantità di cibo, il tutto per espandere il loro fegato e farlo appunto “ingrassare”.
