Untangling the Past: Ghost Nets vs. WWII Plane Wrecks

Join our volunteers aboard the Conrad and the Capo Murro Diving Center team as they meticulously untangled WWII plane wrecks from ghost nets off the coast of Italy, as part of this year’s Ghostnet Campaign.

Over three days, the crew skillfully removed a tangle of lines, ropes, long lines, gill nets, and numerous trawling nets ensnaring two planes. In total, nearly 300 kg of hazardous materials were extracted, preserving both marine life and the poignant historical memory of fallen pilots.
