Pavilion Farms raises millions of chickens before they are sent to slaughter 💔

In 2017 an employee at Pavilion Farms in Anakie, Victoria, wore a hidden camera to capture the treatment of chickens raised for meat.

The worker was able to film as crates of day-old baby chicks from the Turosi hatchery were unloaded. These crates holding dozens of little lives were then dumped onto the floor of the sheds with complete disregard for their welfare.

Mortality is high in the days after being transferred into the sheds, however many are also culled. A senior worker, who calls himself ‘the killer’ and claims to hate ‘ugly birds’, was filmed killing young chickens. He was caught bragging about killing close to 1,000 chicks across three sheds 🐤

At Pavilion Farms, workers cull chickens who are sick or injured by hitting them or snapping their necks. They then take the buckets full of dead chickens and dump them into earthmoving equipment to be disposed of.

At 5-7 weeks old, a crew of contract workers ‘depopulates’ the sheds. Working at night and in the dark, the workers shove the chickens into plastic crates to be sent to the Turosi (formerly Golden Farms) slaughterhouse in Geelong.

On their website Turosi claims to work with farmers who are ‘serious about the welfare of their animals.’ We thought that you should see their treatment of chickens for yourselves.

In late 2025, Pavilion Farms’ CEO Nathan Potter brought charges against four Farm Transparency Project investigators for allegedly rescuing eight broiler chickens from one of the farms.
