Burned Alive, Panda Safe at Sanctuary

In 2013, someone broke into a high school housing animals for the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and set fire to a 5-mos-old calf, burning him over 50% of his body. The community of Paso Robles rallied behind the calf, donating to cover the costs of healing him. Despite the outpouring of support to SAVE Panda’s life, the teenager raising him for FFA still wanted to lead Panda to slaughter at the auction.

Animal Place offered to take Panda in and provide him permanent sanctuary. A donor facilitated his rescue. Panda is now safe and sound at sanctuary. His ears have been burned off, he may have vision problems, and his scars – nearly a year later – are still healing.
