Nosey the Elephant Suffering in Chronic Pain

A veterinarian observed Nosey the elephant at the Great Lakes Medieval Faire in August 2014 and concluded that she has an extremely reduced range of motion in the joints of her rear limbs and a painfully slow and deliberate walking gait, both indicative of serious arthritic and degenerative joint disease.

PETA has sent two urgent letters in as many weeks asking the USDA to investigate Nosey’s exhibitor, Hugo Liebel, and to ensure that she is not forced to perform. We have also called on the owner of the fair to cancel elephant rides.
