Road To Blue Sky fall

Did you know, approximately 40% of horses used in racing vanish from the industry from one racing year to the next?

Road To Blue Sky fell in a jumps race at Warrnambool on July 4 2021. He is one of countless horses reported to be lame after being used in a race. He could make up part of the 40% or he could be returned to the track. That decision ultimately lies with the horses owners and trainers who can essentially do whatever they like with them.

Horses continuously show up on the authority’s website as ‘retired’. Whether that is to a grassy paddock, an equestrian sport, a knackery, or shot on site and disposed of is entirely up to those responsible for them. Such information is not accessible to the public, with racing deeming this as none of your business.
