Jedes Jahr in der Osterzeit werden rund eine Million Lämmer durch Europa transportiert zum Schlachten. Es sind meist nicht abgesetzte Lämmer, die auf den Transporten nicht versorgt werden können. Es gibt keine Fahrzeugtechnik, die in der Lage ist, nicht abgesetzte Lämmer wie auch Kälber mit Flüssigkeit zu versorgen. Diese Tiere haben noch einen Saugreflex und sind nicht in der Lage die Tränkenippel zu benutzen. Sie hungern. Zudem sind die Transporter auch technisch nicht sicher. Spalten zwischen den Trennwänden und seitlich an den beweglichen Böden werden immer wieder zu tödlichen Fallen. Auch die Stehhöhe für die Tiere wird von den Transporteuren oft nicht eingehalten, sie können nicht aufrecht stehen. Animal Welfare Foundation und Tierschutzbund Zürich fordern ein Transportverbot für nicht abgesetzte Tiere.
