This footage was shot in late January 2017 at the premises of two pig breeders partnering with Hénaff. Although the Hénaff brand boasts of “transparency” regarding its operations and shows pigs living outdoors on its website, the reality is that the animals experience a life of misery. They are forced to live on a bare concrete floor in overcrowded conditions and are never allowed outside. They live a life of boredom and frustration. Sows are immobilised in tiny cages that prevent them from turning around and taking care of their young. Dying pigs are left to their fate without veterinary care. Dead bodies, sometimes in a state of decomposition, lie in piles next to live pigs. These intolerable conditions cannot be allowed to continue.
