Owls at Johns Hopkins Lab: You Won’t Be Able to Unhear Their Screams

The screams heard in this video are from barn owls locked inside Shreesh Mysore’s barren, fluorescent-lit cinderblock laboratory at Johns Hopkins University. While the university has refused to provide audio or video footage of the invasive experiments performed on these birds, we know from Mysore’s published papers that experimenters cut into barn owls’ skulls, insert electrodes into their brains, restrain them, put headphones on them to force them to listen to sounds, bombard them with flashing lights, and record their brain activity.

“Harry Potter” star Evanna Lynch has written to the university’s president, urging him to shut down these cruel experiments that make the Cruciatus Curse look like child’s play.
