Meet Tatzi, a wise and gentle old bear

Tatzi is one of the oldest residents at Animals Asia’s China Bear Rescue Centre.

Animals Asia founder Jill Robinson rescued him in 1993 from a bile farm, and he’s lived happily at our sanctuary ever since.

Despite his many years confined to a small, rusty cage and suffering repeated, painful bile extraction on the farm, Tatzi is an incredibly gentle and patient soul.

As he ages, he’s inevitably getting a bit slower and many of his friends have sadly passed away through old age.

But Tatzi just carries on as he always has: with his lovely, gentle and playful nature, and enjoying every day of freedom.
