SOSTIENI ACCEDI

Gadhimai 2019

In 2009, it was reported that hundreds of thousands of animals were brutally killed for sacrifice at the Gadhimai Festival, a ceremony which takes place in southern Nepal every 5 years.

Footage showed animals hacked to death with machetes by festival attendees, animals left to die in extreme pain over long periods of time, and terrified animals chased by groups of people wielding other weapons. The violence was horrific.

As the festival approached in 2014, Animal Equality in India worked tirelessly on the ground with local officials and groups to stop the sacrifice of innocent animals. Thanks to our combined efforts, we were able to reduce the sacrificial slaughter of these animals by over 50%.

However, thousands of animals were still horribly killed and on December 3, 2019, the Gadhimai Festival will again take place.

Please sign our petition now and ask the Nepalese government to ban animal sacrifice at the next Gadhimai Festival:

We need your help to end the mass slaughter of animals. With your signature, you will add your name to the millions of supporters who have said it’s time to end this terrible cruelty.

Once again we will be on the ground before and during the festival, doing all that we can to save lives. With your support, our voice will be even stronger.
