Export of calves from Ireland to the Netherlands via France

Transported over 2000km on a voyage lasting more than 50 hours. This is the ordeal experienced by the 200,000 calves exported each year from Ireland.
More so today than ever before, with the corona virus, these transports take on another scandalous dimension. If our aim is to reduce as much as possible the risk of spreading Covid-19, how can one justify, during a pandemic period, that non-essential transport is criss-crossing throughout Europe over such long distances ? There is clearly an urgent need to halt the long-distance transport of animals.
